Chapter 1 Conversion tools

LATExml provides a simple conversion tool, which can be styled using some CSS. BookML is a wrapper for LATExml which produces HTML in Bookdown format with fancier CSS, navigation menus, as well as buttons to increase text size or switch to “night mode”. It also includes download links for the PDF version and can package everything in a SCORM package ZIP file that can be uploaded to Learning Management Systems like D2L/Brightspace. BookML also automatically loads MathJax to display mathematical formulas and to provide additional accessibility features for them—right click on any formula to activate the MathJax context menu.

The navigation links all have title attributes which make (some) screen readers read the “next” link an this page as “Chapter 2 Basic layout right triangle forall x: a11y 2 Basic layout”. This is done by LaTeXML itself.
